Dana Chase Troxell of Amelia Island, Florida died suddenly on Thursday, July 15 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. Mr. Troxell was the husband of Carol Vosburgh Troxell.
Mr. Troxell, known as Chase, was born on March 27, 1930 in Montclair, New Jersey. He was raised in Montclair and in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He was the son of Thomas Franklin and Louise Chase Troxell. Mr. Troxell graduated from The Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania and earned his A.B. from Harvard College in 1951. He earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and an LL.M. degree in taxation from New York University School of Law. Mr. Troxell practiced law for many decades in New York City. He specialized in trusts and estate taxation as a partner at Morris & McVeigh LLP, Burke & Burke and most recently at Hollyer Brady. He raised his family in Short Hills, New Jersey and spent his later years in Chatham, Massachusetts and Amelia Island, Florida.
Mr. Troxell was a longtime member of The Short Hills Club, Eastward Ho! and the Harvard Club. He enjoyed writing, playing bridge and playing golf and tennis. He also loved spending time with his many grandchildren and his dog. In addition to his wife of 54 years, Mr. Troxell is survived by his three children, Amy Powell and her husband Greg of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Holly Ruhlin and her husband Peter of Darien, Connecticut and Dana Chase Troxell, Jr. and his wife Anne of Weston, Connecticut. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Molly and Catherine Powell, Welles, Whitney, Lydia and Charlotte Ruhlin and Chase, Preston, Gray and Leila Troxell. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas F. Troxell, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Church in Short Hills, New Jersey at 11:00am on Thursday, July 22. ________________________________
